Servers will always be designed as one of the three. That's about all I can say though since I'm on the Tespia team for them. Recently tho, Dice has taken the reigns of development of server features, while Sjonnie is behind the scenes doing client work. Much sooner depending on class, but otherwise easy enough. You can down Lucid on there in roughly 100 hours of gameplay. It's an open sandbox, for players to experience the game at a much faster rate. It's a project, not designed as a server (for now). Streamers were openly dumping their daily and weekly steam limits into the game, they were that bad. Their monetization efforts are probably going to represent some similarity to Lost Ark, which if done correctly, can see players dump big $$$ to progress. I understand that their devs are extremely talented, however copying Lost Ark is a meme, and they killed progression for new players to an almost stagnant pool of water, and are "happy with it". Ristonia is currently going through this phase. Unique progression, unique features, etc etc. Devs probably had a mad addiction to Lost Ark and magically decided that they're going to copy it for mushroom game.Ī few servers appear to try and be the unique server. There's no uniqueness in these servers, and metas for farming quickly show early. These servers are designed as GMS, but with better rates and catch up mechanics. Modern servers are in a class of their own: There's few servers with "fair" donation systems, and others that are just grossly and blatantly a P2W shitfest. Private servers typically hold a few different views and are different from each other. Swordie barely came out then, Ristonia is the former team of Veracent after they split (basic rundown, there's drama here that I don't know much of but that's the general view), and Lumiere is the re-write of the Aries source (same people). The servers that are around now, weren't around (minus Aries) 3 years ago. Maplestory private servers have been, for many years, associated with P2W cash grabs. Which "Up-to-date" servers do you guys suggest, if any?Īnd lastly, Is the P2W on these private servers bad enough to warrant going back to official MS and playing on Reboot instead? Quests not working properly? Missing game features, but otherwise fun and fair? Lower pop? Let me know if you have more info on this server. I read that it had poor performance or something somewhere. MapleLumiere: The server nobody really talks about. Supposedly wiping servers and recollecting funds? Unfair bans? Super expensive pets and other P2W items? Supposedly super P2W, even with the super high drop/XP rates? Haven't noticed yet as I've just started. Especially on the more modern version ones I prefer to play on.Īfter much digging on the discords and here, I've found big gripes with most of the progressive servers with a decent playerbase:ĪriesMS: The Average Joe current server. Unfortunately, it seems as if that same type of greed has spilled over into the private server community. I am pretty new to MS and thought I had found a glimmer of hope when I learned about the private servers we all know and love when it comes to P2W official games.
